BTEC Level 3 Engineering

This qualification has been designed to give a wide range of experiences. It is a two-year, full-time course that meets entry requirements for university or for students who wish to progress to apprenticeship or employment.

Students gain relevant skills and knowledge in Mechanical Engineering from studying a range of units, for example in Computer Aided Design in Engineering and Engineering Principles.

What is Engineering?

Engineering is the practical application of science and maths to solve problems, and it is everywhere in the world around you. From the start to the end of each day, engineering technologies improve the ways that we communicate, work, travel, stay healthy, and entertain ourselves.

Why study it?

BTEC (Business & Technical Education Council) Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering is equivalent to 3 A Levels.

BTECs are a highly successful alternative to general qualifications, suitable for a wide range of learners. As work-related qualifications, they are designed to accommodate the needs of employers as well as allowing progression to university.

What next?

Students with a level 3 extended diploma in Engineering are well placed to progress onto:

A university degree course in an appropriate Engineering discipline

A HNC or HND in Engineering

Employment with training through an apprenticeship.
