On Monday 26 August a group of Sixth Form students Alick Brownlee, Scott Brownlee, Kari Roberts, James English, Leo Hudson-Foster and former students Laura Short and Millie McCormack, travelled to Keswick in the English Lake District to begin their 4 day Duke of Edinburgh Gold assessed expedition.
They all completed the expedition successfully, journeying from Keswick to Buttermere on Tuesday for an overnight camp, then onto Low Lorton before returning via a different route to Buttermere, and finally finishing at Braithwaite near Keswick on Friday.
The group began their journey in sunny conditions but over the following few days the weather gradually deteriorated until on Friday they were met with heavy rain, low clouds and very strong winds. All remained upbeat and cheerful, supporting each other throughout and working very well as a team overcoming all the challenges that they met.
We are so proud of their achievement.
