From September 2017, homework will be set electronically by teachers using a system called Class Charts. Teachers will record what the homework is, and when it is due. Students can then see what homework is due via their digital planner, which can be accessed on their iPad, mobile phone, or home computer/tablet via their access code. The digital planner will show what homework is set, what homework has been submitted and, what homework is overdue.
The digital planner also allows parents to login and oversee all of the above. This guide talks you through initial registration and using it the Digital Planner.
Paper planners are still an important tool for home/school communications. We also recognise that some students use a paper planner as a personal organisation tool. This year, we are using a smaller planner, to reflect a shift in the use of the planner away from just recording homework. As a result, we would still expect the planner to be reviewed and signed each week by parents.
Parents will have their own login to access a personalised Digital Planner for their child/children. Alternatively, the whole school calendar can be viewed on the school website without logging in.
What you will need to get started…
We are rolling out the system gradually in the first term of 2017. We will send a message to all parents via School Comms (email) to alert you when your child’s year group have been issued with their parent code letters; so you know when to expect it.
You can contact us via the details provided in the instructions document.
