Key Stage 4 Curriculum Map
Curriculum Intent
To develop students knowledge and skills within the 3 exam components of performance, composition and listening, in order to gain a GCSE grade which is in line or above their agreed target.
Key Knowledge and Skills
Performance: Students are able to perform both as a soloist and within an ensemble to at least Grade 2 standard.
Composition: Students are able to compose full pieces of music which are stimulating and effective (satisfying GCSE criteria)
Listening: Students can analyse unfamiliar pieces of music and break them down aurally using the musical elements and all keywords within the specification
Sequence Discussion
Builds further on the three key areas developed at KS3 – Performance, composing and listening. 1 composition must be completed in each year and listening is in built throughout the year ready for the exam in summer of Y11.
