Key Stage 4 Curriculum Map
Curriculum Intent
For every student to be able to show individuality through their work, building on skills and knowledge and personalising sketchbooks to show developments and progression of their own abilities. Students will need to ensure that they cover all 4 of the assessment objectives – AO1: Develop ideas through investigations, demonstrating critical understanding of sources, AO2: Refine work by exploring ideas, selecting and experimenting with appropriate media, materials, techniques and processes., AO3: Record ideas, observations and insights relevant to intentions as work progresses, AO4: Present a personal and meaningful response that realises intentions and demonstrates understanding of visual language.
Key Knowledge and Skills
Workshops to learn a variety of photography methods. Learning to discuss photographers work through evaluating and analysing and to learn creative processes to achieve. To start with the Reflections project looking at teacher led workshops to build confidence and knowledge as well as introducing students to new skills and techniques. To help students attain a standard to be proud of their achievements. To develop basic photography skills and sensitivity within their work, including the use of ICT. To eventually learn independence to prepare students for the GCSE exam. Students are required to develop knowledge, understanding and skills relevant to their chosen title through integrated practical, critical and contextual study that encourages direct engagement with original works and practice.
Sequence Discussion
Students follow a rigorous programme of coursework, 2 units one based on Reflections and one on Landscapes, working in sketchbooks and producing a final response. This enables students to learn creative processes to meet the AO criteria for the course.
