BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering
Key Stage 5 Curriculum Map
Curriculum Intent
For students to embrace the subject of Engineering and find their place in the profession, giving them a spring board to University or work. To allow students to explore all aspects of Engineering, such as technical drawing, CAD, programming, metalworking and machining. To acquire the knowledge, understanding and skills that will be recognised and valued.
Key Knowledge and Skills
Covering a wide range of Engineering sectors to give students a broad knowledge for their futures. Key areas covered include business functions, electrical engineering, programming, metal work and machining, maths, CAD, CAM and schematics.
Sequence Discussion
Projects are sequenced based on the assignments set by BTEC. Each unit is taught by a subject specialist in the department.
